Urostomy Information and Stomico Ostomy Pliers
A urostomy, or urinary diversion, is a surgically created opening that allows urine to flow out of the body through a stoma. Typically, a urostomy is created when the bladder is either not functioning or has to be removed. There are several different types of surgeries, but the most common are the conduit and colonic conduit.
Maintenance of a urostomy requires the use of an ostomy appliance. The Stomico Ostomy Pliers are designed to assist with both one and two-piece appliances. One component is known as the bag or pouch. The other is a skin barrier/wafer.
Stomico Ostomy Pliers are ergonomically designed and eliminate exposure to the inherent carpal tunnel and tendonitis risks associated with the repetitive motion of scissors and are easy to use by arthritis sufferers. With practice of just 1 or 2 times, it takes seconds to punch a clean, consistent hole in the ostomy appliance.
The Stomico Punch Pliers System allows the purchase of the most economical (no pre-cut holes necessary) skin barriers/wafers.
